Ad Astra: The Schedule!
The Ad Astra convention starts tomorrow, and now that the panel schedule’s finalized, I can tell you where I’ll be!
The Writing Contest — Friday, 7:00pm, Franklin room

Join our panel of writers and editors, who will give out some prompts and writing tips on Friday night for participants to write 1 page stories (around 250 words) and these entries are due by Saturdayafternoon. On the Sunday there will be a wrap-up panel.
Urban Fantasies — Friday, 8:00pm, Floor 2, Salon 3

Faerie, Werewolves and Vampires are just a few of the otherworldy folk that are moving into the cities, blending in, using the system and working within it. What makes a successful urban fantasy? How do you keep it ‘real’ when you are writing about a fae?
The Intersection Between Academic and the Creative in Speculative Fiction — Friday, 9:00pm, Floor 2, Salon 2

Where does this intersection take place, why is it necessary? How is it done successfully? What are some examples of Speculative Fiction where it really works?
The Future of Food — Saturday, 10:00am, Floor 2, Salon 2

Nutrition, food security, and genetic modification are increasingly important to foodies today. What will their concerns be in the future? The panel will discuss food, food policy, and food in fiction. If you’re lucky, there will be recipes.
